The Reason for God: Belief in an Age of Skepticism by Timothy Keller
I started this book way back in March of last year, and finally got around to finishing it about a month ago (in my usual start-something-and-then-take-forever-to-finish-it fashion). It was really well written, addresses the hard questions that people ask about God, and provides an excellent argument for faith, or at the very least, discussion. I think that pretty much everybody needs to read this book. For believers, it helps us to better understand why people have problems with our faith and gives us a good foundation to defend and explain it effectively; for non-believers, it addresses their issues with Christianity through logic and paints a clearer picture of what Jesus is all about.
I’m not joking about everyone needing to read this. Seriously, it’s a great book. We live in a post-modern society, and this guy is like the post-modern equivalent of C.S. Lewis. Anyone who has issues with Christianity or has gotten into religious debates or is apathetic or loves Jesus needs to read this. To anyone who falls into any of those categories, I lovingly say, I dare you.
